Sara Parker is the quarterback for Canada's national flag football team. It's a role she was almost predestined for. As a young girl, Sara enjoyed throwing a football around in her neighborhood. When she started high school, the flag football team was looking for a quarterback, and Sara was the only one who had mastered throwing the ball. Her path had been set. After five years of flag football in high school, she started the program at CEGEP and then at Concordia University. She is also captain, club president, team founder, athletic therapist, and now an Olympic hopeful for 2028.

The sport of flag football has evolved significantly in recent years, so much so that the NFL is now considering making it a professional sport. While waiting for the project to come to fruition, the national team is preparing for its first-ever Olympic experience in Los Angeles in 2028. Based on the results of the women's national team, there is reason to hope for a gold medal. The team competed in its first World Flag Football Championships in 2014 and finished in 5th place to secure their spot at the 2025 World Games in China, where they took 3rd place. In the summer of 2025, the Canadian team won the silver medal at the Continental Championship in Panama, losing to the Mexican powerhouse in the final. This result confirmed their place at the next World Championships in Germany in 2026.

Proving that women's flag football is on the rise, the Canadian and American teams were invited to play a friendly match at halftime of the Buffalo Bills' home game against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium in October 2025. This is the first time that international women's flag football teams have competed on an NFL field.
