Marie-Philip Poulin needs no introduction. The great leader she is today did not appear out of thin air. Behind the "C" on the jersey of the best player in the world of women’s hockey lies the story of her unstoppable rise. Her status as a legend was confirmed at the Beijing Olympics, where she delivered another outstanding performance during the finals.

For the third time in her career, the Quebec forward scored the winning goal in an Olympic final. Who else can claim such a feat in the history of hockey? No one. Poulin finished the game with two goals and an assist. She became the first hockey player of any gender to score in four Olympic gold-medal games. That victory was the result of four years of hard work. Recall that Canada lost in a shootout during the last game of the 2018 Olympics. A very bitter setback for the captain of Team Canada.

Over the course of her four Olympic Games, where she has won three gold medals, Marie-Philip Poulin has proven to the entire world that she ranks with the top athletes and is the best female hockey player in the world. At Beijing 2022, Poulin was honoured to be Team Canada's co-flag bearer for the opening ceremonies.

At Sochi 2014, she was Canada's leading scorer with three goals and two assists. Two of her goals came through during the thrilling final against the United States, where she scored the tying goal with 55 seconds left in the third period. She then scored the winning goal in overtime, thus earning Canada its fourth consecutive Olympic win in women's ice hockey.

Four years earlier, at the age of 18, Marie-Philip was the youngest member of the gold medal-winning team in Vancouver 2010. She scored five goals and had two assists.

Poulin has been part of the National Team Program since 2007. In addition to her outstanding Olympic performances, Marie-Philip has won six silver, one bronze, and two gold medals at the IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship.

Marie-Philip has been named team captain of the PWHL Montreal team at the start of its inaugural season in 2023.

The titled forward will be donning the uniform for her fifth career Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina in 2026.
